Starting from the Award in Pre-defined Area (APA) license round in 2019, the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy introduced a new license obligation to share sea bottom data with Mareano. Mareano is a mapping program started in 2006 by the Norwegian Government with the aim to map topography, sediment composition, contaminants, biotopes and habitats in Norwegian waters, see www.mareano.no. This report contains recommendations for which data to share with Mareano. In general, it is recommended to share environmental data, bathymetry and sonar data except for high resolution data close to infrastructure and within 12 nautical miles.
A contract template has also been developed. It is recommended to use this template for establishing a data sharing contract between the License Operator and each of the Mareano partner institutions.
