Anniken Hauglie appointed new Director General of The Norwegian Oil and Gas Association

Anniken Hauglie (47) is appointed to be the new Director General of The Norwegian Oil and Gas Association.

- Anniken Hauglie will be an extremely competent and skilled manager of our industry organization, says Monica Th. Bjørkmann, Chair of The Norwegian Oil and Gas Association.

- Hauglie holds a very strong political experience and understanding. Her former experience as Minister provides her unique qualifications to represent the organization in the political debate, and the challenges we are facing as an industry, says Bjørkmann.

Anniken Hauglie was educated at the University of Oslo and the Norwegian Business School (BI). She has a wide experience from various political work, including City Council of Oslo, and more than four years as Minister for Labour and Social Affairs.

- This is an exciting challenge that I am looking forward to with great anticipation, says Anniken Hauglie.

- The oil- and gas industry is very important to Norway. It is essential to ensure income to the nation, our welfare, to employment all over the country, and as a key driver to technology and research that is important to Norway. The industry will also be crucial to ensure that we reach our climate goals, says Hauglie.

As a former minister, Karantenenemnda ("the National Quarantine Committee") will decide when Hauglie is allowed to take office.
